SafeTALK - Suicide Alertness for Everyone is a prevention and awareness workshop that trains participants to become alert helpers who can recognize individuals with thoughts of suicide, engage them in direct and open talk about suicide, and quickly connect them with someone who can do a more in-depth suicide intervention, which may include an ASIST-trained caregiver. This approach bolsters an overall network of safety. 

What you’ll get: 

  • A simple framework and skills to recognize and refer someone with thoughts of suicide 

  • Opportunities to learn from other participants and practice your intervention skills at your own comfort level

  • Training workbook, learning aids, and localized resources

  • Certificate of completion

  • 3.5 Continuing Education credits

Duration: 4 hours

Delivery: In-person

Audience: Anyone 15 years or older

Skill Level/Type: Community Helper & Connector
Cost: $100 with group discounts and agency pricing available

Continuing Education: 3.5 CEs through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Oregon Chapter and the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). 

  • All participants receive a certificate of completion which could be submitted to other licensing boards.

  • This course partially meets the Oregon HB2315 requirements for suicide-specific continuing education for all mental health and behavioral health roles.
