Virtual Training Policy for Incite Agency for Change

Virtual Training Policy

Last updated: May 13, 2024

Because suicide can be a difficult topic for many people, we have an extensive safety protocol. This Virtual Training Policy describes our safety protocols, training requirements, and other considerations for participating in virtual Incite Agency for Change suicide prevention trainings. When you register for an event, you agree to the following terms.

Safety Protocol

We require that all participants provide the following information during the registration process:
  • A personal phone number where you can be reached during the training. A cell phone is our preference, but any direct line is sufficient. This number cannot be a departmental phone number or other administrative main line.
  • The physical address of where you will be participating from (Street number, City, State). If you will be participating from anywhere other than your home address, please include a building name and office number, if applicable.
  • For any event you are already registered for, if you provided anything other than a personal phone number or a specific physical address please contact us to have that information updated.
We require that participants remain visible on camera for the duration of the training, with the exception of scheduled break times.
  • If you do not have a way to participate on camera, please contact us prior to the training.
  • If you are unable to remain on camera due to unforeseen circumstances (unstable internet connection, etc.), or if you have to step away for an unexpected interruption or unscheduled break, please direct message one of the trainers to let them know.

If you are off-camera, or if you leave the training unexpectedly, we will engage the following safety protocol:
  • One of the trainers will try to reach you by private message.
  • If unresponsive via private message, or if you leave the training unexpectedly, we will call or text the phone number provided during registration.
  • If unresponsive to calls and/or texts and we are concerned about your safety, we may send for a wellness check to the address provided during registration.
Attendance Expectations

  • Each individual is expected to access the training from their own device and from a stationary location (e.g. not traveling).
  • Zoom access information will be provided in registration confirmation and reminder emails. In order to ensure that all participants have properly registered for the course, this information should not be forwarded or shared.
  • Please be on time. The zoom room will open 15 minutes prior to the start of class for check-in and attendance.
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late or have to step away for an extended period of time, you may be asked to reschedule for another training. This may also impact your ability to receive course credit and/or CEs, if applicable.

Other Considerations
Because suicide can be a difficult topic for many people...
  • If you are not able to locate yourself in a private space, consider using headphones - not to stigmatize the topic, but to limit how much others who may be impacted can hear.
  • Please do what you need to take care of yourself, both during and after the training.
  • Trainers can be reached via private message if you are struggling. We can even move to a private breakout room, if needed.
  • To get support at any time, you can call or text 988, the 24/7 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Changes to This Virtual Training Policy

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace this policy at any time. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice to all current event registrants prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use our service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, in whole or in part, please stop using the website and the Service.
